The RUMBA (Rutgers University Mind Brain Analysis) research group seeks to provide a center of excellence at Rutgers University that promotes new methods and concepts in modeling and interpretation of brain function in computational and algorithmic terms and to thereby further the fundmental understanding of brain mapping and its implications for brain function.
The mission of RUMBA projects is to explore the measurement and modeling of brain imaging data against the backdrop of high-level cognitive processes such as language, categorization, and reasoning.
We propose to develop general methods, models, and inferential procedures for analyzing the relationship between mental representations and more general (statistically weaker) kinds of hypotheses that range from linear modular types of hypotheses to those that might arise from spatially distributed networks of interacting representations in the brain.
